According to a four year study done in Melbourne, Australia, increasing the number of plants in cities can provide a huge and rapid boost in biodiversity. These findings are further evidence that greening initiatives many cities are taking can have a significant impact on wildlife and other benefits.

Luis Mata, University of California, states that adding more native plant species to small areas can significantly improve the ecological outcome in a short time.
