Are you concerned that someone may have unfollowed you on Instagram?
There is an easy way to verify. Let's don our trench coats and get our magnifying glasses out.
1. To check the status of your follow, go to the Instagram account.
2. Tap the "Following” button in the upper right corner.
It will have a number displayed above it which indicates how many accounts they are following.

3. Tap the "Following” button on the screen. Then, add that number to it.
This will bring up a list of accounts that they are following.
4. In the search bar, type your handle or display name (username that begins with @)
If your account appears in search results, it means that this person is still following. You are so happy!

That's me, it's me!
If your account doesn't show up in search results, it is likely that they are not following you. You may have been following them before they unfollowed. Ouch. Let's take a look at this example:
Let's assume that Ariana Grande followed me on Instagram at one time. I decided to take to social media to tell her that her new album was hot garbage (Gasp! I wouldn't. Now, I wonder if she has unfollowed my tweets because of what I said.
So, I go to her profile and search for my account in her "following list" as I explained above. My account doesn't show up in the search results, much to my dismay.

"No users were found." This would mean that she would have unfollowed my (and it would have been a good thing).
This is how you know if someone unfollows you on Instagram. To be clear, Ariana Grande does not have any bad albums in her discography, and she will never make them.
Although you didn't come to hear pop music commentary, you are getting it. You are welcome!
