Reframe your Metaphors, and other lessons from Y Combinator S21 Day 1 – TechCrunch

After a marathon of nearly 200 pitches, the Equity team was ready to chat on Twitter about some early trends and favorite moments from the first day at Y Combinators demo party. We will be back on air tomorrow so follow us on Twitter.
What did Natasha and Alex talk about? These are the following:

First Impressions: This was the first step in our exploration of the top-line numbers and geographic breakdown as well as how the accelerator does when it comes to diversity representation. This last bit made some progress but diversity remains a problem in YCs batches, despite the increase in cohort size. We also discussed what startups pitching could do: better microphones, which are inexpensive and good.

Our first favorites: Metaphor and Lumify. Alex's favorite Indian real estate plays are Akudo, Reframe and Playhouse.

There are also some hmmm moments. Natasha has a paranoid theory about Writesonic.
