YouTube Premium subscribers can now turn on picture-in-picture on iPhone — here’s how

YouTube announced in June that it would bring picture-in-picture to iOS. It seems that the highly-requested feature is now available. However, this will only be available for YouTube Premium subscribers for a short time. Here's how you can get it.
Open a web browser, and go to www.youtube.com/new if you are a YouTube Premium subscriber. Scroll down until Picture-in-picture for iOS is listed. Click Try it out. Next, navigate away from YouTube by using the home button, or swipe up, and picture-in–picture will begin. You can re-watch the video by locking your phone screen.

9to5Google reported the news. It noted that some users were able to access the feature on both iPhones and iPads. However, access seems a bit unpredictable. It is possible to delete the app.

YouTube claims that the feature will be available until 31 October, but they aren't sure what happens after that date. We are hopeful that this will happen as YouTube promised in June that the feature would be available to all users and not just those who have paid.
