YouTube suspends Rand Paul for a week over a video disputing the effectiveness of masks.

YouTube removed Tuesday's video from Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky and suspended him for one week. This was after he posted another video in which he questioned the effectiveness of masks to prevent the spread of coronavirus. YouTube spokesperson stated that the claims made by the Republican senators in the video were against the company's policy regarding Covid-19 misinformation. Videos that promote misinformation are prohibited by YouTube. This includes claims that masks don't prevent the transmission or contraction of Covid-19. The spokesperson stated that we apply our policies consistently across all platforms, regardless of speaker or political opinions. We also make exceptions for videos with additional context, such as countervailing views from local authorities. The video features Mr. Paul saying that most of the masks available over-the-counter don't work. They don't prevent infection.
