Man Gives Out Address Amid Racist Rant, Pelted By Protesters During Arrest

A man launched a racist diatribe about a Black neighbor and invited protesters to his front door. But he may not have expected them all to turn up, especially as he was being taken to jail. This wild encounter was captured in Mount Laurel NJ Friday. It led to an even more bizarre follow-up Monday. Scores of people landed on the guy's driveway to condemn a rant he'd been on days before. They let him know their thoughts about his venomous remarks.According to reports, the perp is Edward Cagney Mathews. He now faces criminal charges after a heated encounter he had with a member of his Black community -- including harassment and bias intimidation. The cops then arrested him.The initial face-off is quite spectacular (in a good way). Mathews uses every epithet possible to insult his Black neighbor. He even uses the n-word, monkey, and questions whether he knows America's laws. Mathews also says "this isn’t Africa" which seems mocking what he perceives as a foreign accent.Numerous people are still standing in front of Edward Cagney Mathews' home. His front door is being blocked off by police officers. pic.twitter.com/jqp0ORPzlp Alex George, July 5, 2021 @alexgeorgetvAlthough it's not clear what this was, Mathews clearly went too far in what could be one of the most racist moments we have seen in quite some time. Even though his community security guard arrives to calm the situation, Mathews escalates the tension by demanding that the guard "n******" be put in their place. He informed the person filming where he lives and encouraged them to bring people along to see "what (he) is" about.#Breaking Mt Laurel Police arrest Cagney Mathews after protesters surrounded his home over racist comments captured on viral video. As they got in the squad car, they threw water bottles and other debris at Mathews as well as the police.
