Derby Floating Sauna

Hovering above the waters of Tasmania's Derby Lake, a floating spa offers a relaxing retreat surrounded by nature. Visitors leave their shoes on shore and walk across a small bridge to a pontoon. Once onboard, a pair of dueling gabled structures occupy the platform. The lighter, semi-translucent volume acts as a changing room while the stark, burnt larch one is the sauna. Its warm timber-lined interior provides a serene haven for guests to unwind in the wood-fire heat and take in the surroundings from behind a large wall of glazing. To cool off, visitors can opt to take a dip in the refreshing lake water.
