Villa Mandra

Overlooking the Aegean Sea, Villa Mandra provides a serene retreat for recharging in Mykonos. The Grecian holiday home is comprised of two small volumes perched on a hillside. Their white-washed facade is a nod to the local Cycladic vernacular while their clean lines create a contemporary silhouette. The two forms establish an expansive central courtyard with views of the pool and garden. Topped with a chestnut pergola, interior living areas are encouraged to expand out onto the open-air space to take advantage of the seaside vistas and climate. Around the exterior, a hand-built wall made from stones uncovered from the site offers privacy from the road behind while adding to the natural palette and further integrating the dwelling into the coastal landscape.
