In the midst of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Ciara and provides food to food banks in Western Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson are donating one million meals to the local Seattle community via Food Lifeline, a non-profit that Washington.
Per CNN.com, there were at least 1,714 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in the United States as of 6:31 a.m. ET on Tuesday. Per the New York Times, a total of 894 cases have occurred in Washington state alone as of 10:26 p.m. ET on Tuesday.
Ciara and Wilson join Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry and Ayesha Curry in providing one million meals to their local communities.
The Currys announced their plan on Monday to do so through the Alameda County Community Food Bank for children in the Oakland Unified School District, per Alaa Elassar of CNN.com.
Other athletes have also stepped up to help.
Per Ben Morseof CNN.com, Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt and Chicago Red Stars forward Kealia Ohai donated$350,000 to the Houston Food Bank, and New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson and Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo donated $100,000 apiece to workers at their respective home arenas.
Those are just a handful of athletes making charitable donations at this time.
More help may be needed, however, as the spread of the coronavirus continues throughout the United States. The number of new confirmed cases rose over 1,000 in one day for the first time on Monday before going over 1,200 on Tuesday, per theNew York Times.
