Numerous athletes have posted public service announcements imploring people to act responsibly during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, and that list includes Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry:
Per CNN.com, there are at least 152,428 confirmed cases of the coronavirus worldwide. At least 5,720 people have died.
The coronavirus has hit Curry's home state of California hard in particular, with 378 confirmed cases as of 10:26 a.m. ET Sunday morning, per theNew York Times.
Schools are closing down throughout the state, including the Oakland Unified School District, which is off through at least Sunday, April 5.
In response, Stephen and Ayesha Curry have pledged to send 1 million meals through their Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation to students in the district.
Per Alaa Elassarof CNN.com, "the National School Lunch Program provides low-cost or free lunches to 29.7 million children." In a video announcing the charitable act, the Currys explained that over 18,000 students rely on the district for two (or more) meals per day.
Curry is also part of a group of Warriors coaches, players and owners who are donating a total of $1 million to Chase Center employees who can't work because of the NBA's ongoing suspension during the coronavirus pandemic.
