Some Atlanta Falcons fans and critics are clamoring for the team to part ways with quarterback Matt Ryan, but former Falcons wide receiver Roddy White is not joining the chorus.

"That's crazy," White told TMZ Sports at Los Angeles International Airport. "Because, at this point in his career, he own every record for a quarterback up to this point. ... Passing yards, completion percentage, all that stuff. So for people to say that, man, that's just crazy to me, man. Move on for what? What you gonna move on to?"

White retired from the NFL in April 2017 after playing his entire career with the Falcons from 2005 to '15. Ryan had been his quarterback since 2008.

Atlanta drafted Ryan third overall in 2008. To White's point, the 34-year-old is the franchise's all-time leader in passing yards (51,186) and passing touchdowns (321). Ryan is also the Falcons' all-time winningest quarterback at 109-80.

His best statistical season came in 2016, when he threw for 4,944 yards, 38 touchdowns and seven interceptions as the Falcons went 11-5. The Boston College product was named MVP before Atlanta infamously gave up a 28-3 lead in Super Bowl LI to devastatingly lose to the New England Patriots 34-28.

Last season was rough in Atlanta. En route to finishing 7-9 and missing the playoffs for the second straight year, drama surrounded the Falcons. Head coach Dan Quinn continually had his job status questioned, and free safety Ricardo Allen said players lacked "accountability" during the team's six-game losing streak.

Ryan, meanwhile, recorded 4,466 yards, 26 touchdowns and 14 picks on a league-high 408 completions across 15 starts. He missed one game in October with an ankle injury.

The Falcons signed Ryan to a five-year, $150 million extension in May 2018. He isn't scheduled to hit free agency until 2024-when he will be 39 years old-though there is a potential out in 2022.

Atlanta owns the 16th overall pick in the 2020 draft, and there are much more glaring needs to address on the roster than quarterback. Bleacher Report's Matt Miller projected the team to take South Carolina defensive lineman Javon Kinlaw in his latest mock draft.
