That didn't take much time. The Detroit to Keflavik route will be launched by Delta three days earlier.
There will be a 4x weekly flight between Detroit and Keflavik in the summer of 2020. The route will run from May 15 to October 27 of next year.

There is a block on the 2,793-mile flight. On Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, the flight will operate in the opposite direction.
The plane Delta will use for the route is a 757. Extra legroom economy seats, domestic first class seats, and regular economy seats are included. A proper business class product won't be offered on this flight because the domestic first class seats will be sold as Premium Economy.
The Detroit to Keflavik route used to be operated by Delta. This will be the first time in two decades that the airline will operate this route.
For a broader look at the carrier's route network toIceland, Delta only operates seasonal service to the island.
There are no plans for Delta to operate a route to Iceland from Boston in the foreseeable future.
Since this new Detroit route is a last minute addition, I am curious to see if Delta reduces frequencies at all out of Minneapolis, or if this simply increases net capacity toIceland.
The summer of 2023 will see the introduction of a route between Detroit and Keflavik. It's obvious that this route is a response to the launch of the same route by Icelandair.
Delta will use a Boeing 757 on this route 4 times a week. The route won't have a business class cabin.
