A man died after falling from a moving car while helping run a canned food drive for his daughter's troop.

A man fell from a moving car while helping his daughter with a food drive in Illinois. He faked the fall and wasn't injured, according to his wife.

He jumped out of the back of the car because he would do it. She thought he was just being silly.

"They didn't even get to the first house before he fell backwards out of the car onto the pavement and hit his head on the back," Ryan said.

As of Saturday, the family of La More has raised more than $40,000 on a Go Fund Me. Natalie Talaga wrote that Lamore fractured his skull when he fell from the back of the family's car, but she said he was able to walk into the ambulance.

After the fall, Lamore was taken to Silver Cross Hospital for aCT Scan, but his condition deteriorated quickly and he was transferred to the University of Chicago Hospital. The man was taken off life support on Veterans Day.

The University of Chicago Hospital held a ceremony to honor patients who are organ donors. Lamore would be a hero and a champion according to Talaga.

La More's family decided to take him off of life support before making him an organ donor, according to Ryan Talaga.

"We tried to turn a terrible situation into a situation that gives us a sense of peace, working with Gift of Hope." Donations can be sent to the Gift of Hope and the wounded warrior project in lieu of flowers.
