KD 'shocked' by Nash's departure despite 'rocky' year (0:26)

Kevin said he was surprised by Steve Nash leaving the Nets. There is a time and a place.

Kevin said he was shocked by the decision to part ways with Steve Nash as the Nets' coach.

When a move like this happens, you are always surprised. It's not unusual in the NBA. Getting ready for the game is the most important thing. It is a quick turn in the league. You don't have to think about it because you have practice and games coming up. It was something I was thinking about today.

Around 1:45 p.m., he found out about Nash. He woke up from a nap to watch the show. Nets general manager Sean Marks said before the game that no players were consulted before the decision was made.

During their time with the Golden State Warriors, Nash served as a player development consultant, which led to a strong relationship between the two men. He was asked why he didn't think it worked out for Nash.

A lot of things. We did not have a good team. We didn't perform well. That is what happens in the league It happens. Steve's basketball IQ is not affected by that. That doesn't take away from anything. It did not work out.

Since the move became official, he hasn't talked to Nash. After Tuesday's loss, the Nets fell to 3-6. Over the past year, Durant has said several times that he believed Nash wasn't dealt a fair hand because of the circumstances surrounding his two-and-a-half year tenure.

We're pros, we're vets. When asked if he was consulted before the decision was made, he said they had a rough start. Last year was a rocky one. Everybody was being assessed.

It is how it is in the league. Working with Steve made me happy. I enjoy working with the coaches. Basketball is something we all love to do and it was a roller coaster the last few years. You have to come to work no matter who the coach is. I had a good time working with Steve.

He was asked if there was too much uncertainty for the team to win over time.

KD said that it was the NBA. If you want to look at it, everybody hasvolatility. We come to work every single day, even if people look at what we do differently. In the NBA, guys ask for trades before, coaches get fired, and there are disagreements in the locker room. All of us came to work. It did not work out on the floor.
