Many social networks have adopted handles because they are useful for people who want to create an identity, indicate their opinions, or make a joke. It's not just for the creators of YouTube.
Until recently, the only people who had YouTube handles were those who had 100 or more subscribers. The rest of us were usingURLs that were similar to youtube.com The new handles will be used to identify you in channel pages, shorts, and other areas of the site.
If you are already a creator, you will be able to choose your handle at that point. If you have already created a personalized URL for your channel, you will be given the option to change it if you don't like it.
I haven't created many videos on the internet, but I received an invite yesterday. The process for choosing a handle is fairly easy.
Click on the blue button if you get an email or notice in the studio.
You will receive a message that says it's time to choose your handle, and that you will see your personal icon, name, and other information. You can watch a video further down on that page if you want to learn more. Click on the handle if you don't want to. If you already have a personalized URL, you should use it as your handle. The system will pick a handle for you if that's not possible. Don't worry if it selects something that's unmemorable or ridiculous.
The handle can be changed in the lower field. The system will tell you if it has been taken by using a different handle. If your original selection is taken, you can put periods or numbers between the words to adjust it. Click on confirm selection when you are happy with your handle And that is the end.
The new handles will be used later this year. You will be able to access your videos at that point, if you go to, say, YouTube.com/@your.handle. You can still use your old youtube.com/ user URL. If you don't like your choice, you can go back to the website where the Choose handle button was previously used.
