Today the airline has revealed the full details of the new international routes. There are some cool new routes, but the announcement isn't as exciting as in the past. There is only so much the airline can grow since it already has a huge network.
Some new routes have been added to the summer 2023 schedule. United plans to fly to 37 cities in Europe, Africa, India, and the Middle East, which is more destinations in the region than any other US airline.
Newark to Dubai and Washington to Berlin are two routes that have already been announced, so I won't talk about them. Which routes are new today?
The seasonal route between Newark and Malaga will be launched by United on May 31, 2023. A Boeing 757 will operate the route.
United will fly to Malaga for the first time, as Delta is the only US airline that flew to Malaga pre-pandemic.
United will start a daily seasonal route between Newark and Stockholm on May 27th, 2023. A Boeing 757 will operate the route.
From 2005 to the present, United flew to the Swedish capital. The route was supposed to come back in 2021. New York to Stockholm flights will be launched by Delta in the summer of 2020.
There will be a daily seasonal route between San Francisco and Rome. A Boeing plane will operate the route.
There will be nonstop flights from San Francisco to seven European destinations. United flies out of Chicago, Newark, and Washington.
There will be a daily seasonal route between Chicago and Shannon as of May 25,23. A Boeing 757 will operate the route.
United has a service to Shannon out of Newark and this new service will complement it.
There will be a daily seasonal route between Chicago and Barcelona. A Boeing plane will operate the route.
United has an existing service to Barcelona.
Adding new routes is one of the things United will be doing.
Some new destinations will be added by United Airlines in the summer of 2020. Malaga is the only completely new destination being announced for the first time today.
