On October 12th, Delta Air Lines will move into a new terminal at Chicago O'Hare International Airport.

The international terminal is the new location of Delta. The Sky Club is a 22,600- square-foot space that can hold 400 guests.

The lounge has two gates where guests can board their flights from the club.

Those of us flying to/from O'Hare for next week's Chicago seminars, and who have access to Sky Clubs, will have a chance to enjoy it!

Eye of the Flyer was invited by the airline to check out the club and get a look at it.

Delta’s Move to Terminal 5

Delta is a new tenant in the same terminal as other airlines. This isn't as big of a project as the new airport or the Skyway.

Delta did improve their place a bit.

Delta is the only global airline that has a self-service bag drop.

It's easier for Delta passengers to connect to flights with Skyteam and Joint Venture partners. Aero Mexico mileage runners! It's no longer possible to go between T2 and T5.

The Sky Club is located to the left of gate M11.

Take a right and a left after you clear security. You will see the club on your left.

There are three self check-in kiosks.

This club is on a different level than the others. There is no escalator up to the second floor. It's not a critique, it's an observation.

Claude Roussel said that pieces from area artists give Sky Clubs a local feel.

First Impressions of the new O’Hare Delta Sky Club

Delta has a new Sky Club design. In another post, I will address overcrowding.

I immediately thought of the New York-LaGuardia club when I saw the high ceilings, light fixture, and seating options at the new O'Hare lounge. One of the Delta corporate people said that the new club reminded them of Los Angeles, because it is longer and narrower than LaGuardias.

I received a fact sheet when I entered the club. The lounge's real estate was 22,600 square feet. I thought that was a mistake when I pointed it out. It looks like 32,500.

The club has high ceilings, curved walkways, and lots of nooks andTrademarkiaTrademarkiaTrademarkias.

Delta has a lot of power options near most of the seats. There are many booths that have access to electrical power outlets.

Sky Club phone booths have been very popular. They have power sources.

Video calls and phone calls can be made from the booth. For those of us who don't need to look important and share our calls with other people.

A booth focused on ADA was added by Delta. It is similar to a conference room.

Boarding Flights Directly from the Delta Sky Club

Some passengers will not have to leave the Sky Club in order to board their flights. What's the reason? The lounges are connected by two jet bridges.

An auxiliary jet bridge is located at the end of the lounge. Passengers on flights departing from M11 can cool off in the Sky Club.

The only flights using M11 will be between ORD and New York-LaGuardia. Other destinations may be further down the road. As of October 12th, that is effective.

The Sky Club bridge will open at some point. There was no exact time schedule given. From that gate, partner flights will board. There is a plane parked there during the press preview. SkyTeam members should remember their lounge benefits during international trips.

This feature is only available at the O'Hare Club. It would be nice if it could be seen at some clubs. Their locations aren't practical.

I told Mr. Roussel that this feature could be added to the club. Those of us who catch flights to destinations such as Fargo, Grand Forks, and other Upper Midwest locations could take a regional jet. The gentleman smiled at my idea and me.

Hot dogs will be available in the new Sky club.

The Delta Sky Club staple was one of the offerings we tried.

The mac and cheese was delicious.

The chicken and waffle is not as spicy as you might think. I don't like spicy food.

Water and coffee can be found around the club.

Premium alcoholic beverages are offered at the bar.

There is a wine bar on the other side of the lounge.

Restrooms and Showers

The Sky Club has both men's and women's restrooms as well as a multi- gender restroom.

The showers are relaxing and hot.

The shower is ADA compliant.

The club has a wellness room as well. That is a breastfeeding/nursing room. I didn't know that "Nursing" and "Breastfeeding" are offensive. I don't want to shame Delta. The whole thing is a wussy society. Imagine if there was a place where you could get some sort of medical relief for a cold. When you open the door, you say yes. That scenario is not going to end well.

Final Approach

On October 12th, Delta Air Lines will be moving to Terminal 5 at O'Hare. The new Sky Club opens with the move. The lounge has great food and drink options.

Share your thoughts about the new Sky Club when you return to the club.
