It can be difficult to get there on miles and points. We are seeing more award availability than usual.

Award seats are available in business class on the new flight between Seattle and Papeete. There are at least two business class award seats on many flights.

There are at least some business class award availability through the end of the schedule, but it is the most available through February of next year.

Redeem Alaska or American miles on Air Tahiti Nui

Alaskan Airlines Mileage Plan and American Airlines AAdvantage are the best places to book these seats.

• Alaska Mileage Plan charges 60,000 miles for Air Tahiti Nui one-way business class from the United States to Tahiti, or 80,000 miles for Air Tahiti Nui one-way business class from the United States to New Zealand (and you can have a stopover in Tahiti enroute)
• American AAdvantage charges 80,000 miles for Air Tahiti Nui one-way business class, regardless of whether you travel to Tahiti or New Zealand; however, if you want a stopover of more than 24 hours in Tahiti, you’ll have to book that as two separate awards

The awards can be purchased on the websites. You can see availability for a month at a time with the award calendar. If your plans change, both airlines offer free award redeposits so you can keep your award.

Bottom line

There is a lot of business class award availability on the Seattle to Tahiti route. You can connect to New Zealand from French Polynesia, so this is a great chance to plan a trip. This is a great way to use Alaska Mileage Plan.
