You could be in for a big upgrade if you fly between New York and Paris on Air France.

The largest plane in its fleet, the French flag carrier is about to introduce an updated cabin configuration. Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy Class will all have a much enhanced product.

The new business class seats are the best Air France has ever offered and will be a highly competitive product for North Atlantic crossing. Air France has only announced New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport as a route so far, but they promise more city pairs to come.

The Premium Economy cabin got a welcome upgrade if you're not lucky to get one of the 48 reverse herringbone seats. The cabin has doubled in size to include the same number of seats as Business Class and it's using the same seat as Air France's A350s. Enhancements will be seen even by those sitting in Economy Class.

At Air France's Paris Orly Airport maintenance base, one of the first Boeing 777s to get the new seats was visited by TPG. The registration F-GZNS was almost complete with only ceiling panels missing. One of the aircraft being converted is at Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport. Air France hasn't said when the new configuration will enter service, and didn't give any new information on Tuesday. The aircraft will be hitting the skies very soon.

Business Class

The first thing that comes to your mind when you enter the new Business Class cabin is the color. Air France's most comparable product is the Boeing 777-300ER that features the carrier's First Class product, La Premiere, as well as 58 reverse herringbone business class seats. The cabin is very bright. It lacks personality and feels sterile.

The carrier introduced a dark blue tone across the cabin and the entire aircraft with its new A 220 aircraft. L'hippocamp ailé is Air France's longstanding symbol. Ben Smith, the CEO of Air France-KLM, is a big fan of it, according to an Air France spokesman.

If you've flown on Air France's flights, you'll know the seat is common on New York and other premium flights. It has a lot of enhancements to get excited about.

A button is used to close the door. It opened with a lot of force and should be used cautiously. It is necessary to pull the door back manually.

The first thing that catches your attention is the huge display in the seat.

It can be controlled with either a remote or a touch screen. In all cabins, the new system has the ability to pair.

Multiple charging options can be found in the new seat. Below the seat's storage compartment, there's a charging point for your device.

Air France offers wireless charging on top of the table. It is not likely that your devices will run out of juice on one of these flights.

Four recline functions are included in the control panel. The process of folding the seat into a bed was similar to most other seats on the market. When reclined, the bed is about seven feet long.

A pair of headphones can be opened up in the storage compartment, which is lined with tan French leather. It's a good place to keep cables if you remember to take them at the end of the flight. There is a mirror in the door of the compartment.

The seats don't have a cut-out for your feet and feature extra room. What's the best part? If you want to book a future Air France flight in this configuration, be sure to grab the eight seats as soon as possible because Air France doesn't plan to charge extra for them.

If you're traveling with a stranger or have had enough of your travel companion, you can raise and lower the divider in the center two seats.

Premium Economy

Air France's Premium Economy has been the subject of a number of reviews. According to one review, stick to the economy. Air France thinks it will be enough of a hit that it will double the number of seats from 24 to 48 in this cabin.

The screens are the most notable feature of the Economy Class cabin. You can enjoy the same amount of 4K entertainment as your Premium Economy counterparts. Among the best Economy Class screens are the new ones.

Air France's pitch is around 31 inches. The tray table in this section folds out from the seat in front of you, allowing you to drink from it without having to open the table.

Bottom Line

Air France took an already solid product and added more modern touches, along with some beautiful dashes of color, instead of reinventing the wheel with its new business class product. Things like 4K monitors and doors on the seat make this a desirable product. Everyone on the plane will benefit from some of the enhancements. I'm looking forward to trying this product out soon. It's an enhancement that will last a long time.
