Larry Page

Larry Page is shutting down his flying car startup.

The company is still working on the details of what's next.

Kittyhawk was founded in 2010 by Page, who wanted to create electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft. When the company unveiled a demonstration video of a flying car in 2017, it was the first time that people would be able to hail a flying car through an app.

A model of a flying car called the Flyer was shown by Kittyhawk. In an interview with CNBC earlier that year, Thrun said that the models could fly in five years. The company formed a partnership with Boeing.

According to reports, Kittyhawk will shut down its Flyer program in 2020 and focus on its electric aircraft called Heaviside.

The partnership with Boeing won't be affected by today's announcement.

Boeing is still committed to Wisk despite Kitty Hawk's decision to stop operations. We are proud to be a founding member of Wisk Aero and are excited to see their work in the future. Wisk's operations will not be affected by Kitty Hawk's announcement.
