Users of the company's most expensive new phone are experiencing a bug that may be related to the device's OIS feature. Users reported the issues over the weekend and posted videos showing their devices failing when trying to use popular apps. The Guardian reported on it.
Users on third-party social media apps can see the area around the rear and front cameras vibrating when they open them. The issue causes the camera image to shake back and forth and leaves the device shaking as well. The issue appears to have an impact on the new iPhone 14 Pro Max which can cost up to $1,599 with the largest hard drive.
According to The Guardian, the issue may be related to the built-in image stabilization feature in the iPhone 6 Plus. The feature relies on a motor to work. Users may experience loud rattling sounds.
The issue did not happen when using the camera app or other native applications according to the owners. Some people think the issue could be related to third-party apps not being updated for the new operating system.
The company does have a support page warning about the effect extended high-amplitude vibrations can have on the camera. The company cautions users against attaching their device to motorcycles with high-power or high-volume engines and says users should use a damping mount when attaching their device to small-volume electric motor mopeds and scooters.

The closed-loop and OIS systems in the iPhone are designed for long-term wear and tear. Long-term exposure to high-amplitude vibrations within certain frequencies may degrade the performance of these systems and lead to reduced image quality for photos and videos.
The malfunction being reported online doesn't seem to be related to the high amplitude vibrating issues. There are several accounts that show the vibrating devices in passenger cars and in a car. It's possible that a software error is to blame.
