Wisp is expanding abortion pill availability to six more states. The service will be available in Colorado, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, New York, and Washington.
New rules by the Food and Drug Administration made it possible for Wisp to offer abortion pills over the internet. Prior to the public health emergency, people had to see providers in-person in order to get a drug used in abortions. The rules were permanently lifted at the end of the year of 2021.

It's important that part of the statement is "where it is legal". Telehealth services can be used for abortions. Some of the abortion services are legal in some places but not in others. In places where the medical procedure is already legal, services like Wisp help. It is possible to get an abortion in those places, but it is not always accessible to everyone. There is a growing divide between places where people can have a safe healthcare procedure and places where they are not.
