The Top Widgets app is the top free app in the US. In August 2020 the app maker introduced Top Widgets in order to take advantage of the Home Screen feature in the new version of the app. The app has gained over one million downloads in the two days after Monday's launch of the new operating system.
According to data from mobile intelligence firm Sensor Tower, the app saw over 68,000 installs on the day it was released.
The firm says that Top Widgets has reached 30 million installs. Almost all of the company's downloads are from China, accounting for over twenty million lifetime downloads. The U.S. is a smaller market for this app than it is for the rest of the world.
The app is ranked in the top spot in 58 other global markets. It is the top app in the utilities category.
One of the more successful apps to emerge from the original iPhone customization craze is Widgetsmith, thanks to its do-it-yourself tools for creating customwidgets that match your overall iPhone theme, wallpaper and icons. TopWidgets stuffs the phrase "widgetsmith" into its description in the App Store.

The app includes an x-panel type that puts a variety of informational blocks into a single dashboard-likeWidget that can be pinned to your Home Screen.
With the release of the Lock Screen, you can view a small dashboard of information about your phone without having to lock it. The current Lock Screen design limits the number ofWidgets that can be added, so this could be useful for people who want more at-a-glance information. Good eyesight is required to read it.
The Lock Screen's rectangular design can be used to create animations and cartoons, as well as a number of other Lock Screen types.
If you want to see a cupid shoot his arrow through a beating heart or see a bunny inflate a balloon, you can add two Lock ScreenWidgets. If you prefer to use square, the app offers a set of smaller icons that could be added together in a row.
The appeal to a younger, Gen Z crowd is that they want to personalize their Lock Screen with cute characters, designs and animations, instead of the boring information an adult would want to see.
This found the app featured in a variety of TikTok videos this week, including one top viral video that has now pulled in over 514,000 views.

The number of installs and the rate of installs have historically been used to calculate the Top Charts, but they are now being manipulated by TikTok-based marketing efforts. It is likely that this video is behind many of the new installs of TopWidgets in the U.S.
The app can be found on the website xiaozujian.com. There is no developer name or contact information on the site. The company was attempting to reach them through different email addresses. We didn't hear from them again.
