Sony's PlayStation 4 continues to dominate the gaming market by becoming the second best-selling console of all time. The PS4 surpasses the original PlayStation, which sold 102.5 million units, by selling 102.8 million units, Sony reports.

Sony's PS4 hit the 100 million mark last quarter and was able to push out 2.8 million units this quarter, which also includes PS4 Pro sales. It's not impressive sales numbers by any means, proving that this generation of consoles have starting reaching their end. However, with the PlayStation 5 on its way next year, Sony shouldn't be worried.

Even though the PS4 was able to squeeze by the original PlayStation, it will have a tough time catching the top selling PlayStation 2, which sold 155 million units sold. That goal may never be reached.
