I use YouTube Music to listen to music on a daily basis. I appreciate that YouTube Premium allows me to enjoy both videos without ads for $12 a month.

The bundle deal isn't the only one. The user experience on the video sharing website is good. A recent trip to the beach with my partner, where our rejuvenation levels were high but internet access was not always available, reminded me of one of my favorite features: the offline Mixtape.

It's simple to download music to your phone. How often do you forget to download a new song before you embark on a trip? Until we are at the beach, a few beers deep, and in the mood for high-BPM bops, I don't recall. A combination of long-time favorites and current obsessions is what I get with the offline mixtape enabled.

There is a way to use the offline disc.

It is important to know that the two apps are separate for your phone. When using the same account, the two apps interact. If you press the thumbs-up button while watching a video on the internet, the song is added to a huge list on the internet's most popular music service.

With that out of the way, here is how to set up your offline mixtape on YouTube Music. As long as you pay the subscription fees, it's eternal. Go to your library and tap Downloads to open the music app.

Near the top of the screen, you will likely see a blue sliding board. You can use this tool to choose the number of songs that you would like to keep on your device. The offline playlist is estimated by the app. tap the gear icon in the top right corner if the blue slider does not show up for you, and you will be able to download an offline Mixtape to the right.

When you select the gear icon, the menu page shows your available storage and the last time the offline Mixtape was updated. Are you trying to conserve data? You must verify that the download over wi-fi only option is on. If your phone doesn't have enough space for new downloads, the offline feature won't work.

A short list of around 20 songs features the most recent ones I keep in rotation. When you add more tracks to the list, neglected tracks will start to reappear. Songs from artists I have never heard of are not included in my downloads, which is a good thing.

Having all this music at your fingertips without the means to enjoy it on something louder than your phone's built-in speakers is not a good thing. There is a guide to the best speakers.
