Microsoft lost a lot of goodwill when it forced the Microsoft Edge browser on users. There is a future version of the Chrome web browser on a machine that has the 2H22 update to the Windows 10 operating system.

With Windows 10 22H2 and Chrome Dev, you can apparently now switch your default browser with one click, from inside the browser itself.

You can see how cleaner the older Windows 10 is than the newer Windows 11 when you switch your default browser. With the Chrome and Windows 10 22H2 updates, you can simply hit the pop-up in the browser to set it. It would be great to have that in Windows 11.

We could be entering a new golden age where browsers can compete on their merits instead of being pushed around, if we add the fact that rival browsers already support the same kind of one-click, in-browser default app switch. You can switch your browser as often as you please.

I wouldn't count on it, as Microsoft isn't the only browser manufacturer that pushes for prompt. It is not known if the one-touch feature will work in Windows 11. Tom was pushed into the settings menu when he tried it with the 22H2 update, even though he didn't do anything. I didn't like it on Windows 11.

The stable version of the browser is usually nine to 12 weeks ahead of the chrome development version. Tom's sources say that Windows 11 22H2 will be released in September. This autumn, Windows 10 22H2 should be out.

It is Windows 10 that Leopeva64 is demonstrating. We apologize for the mistake.

It doesn't currently work in Windows 11 even with the 22H2 update.
