Facebook is used by many people to celebrate life events. It's a good place to let your friends and family know what's happening in your life, whether it's a new job, a new baby, or a new house.

Everyone you know comments on your posts and so those who comment are signing themselves up for days of notifications. It's more of a deterrent to say something.

There are ways to say something without being bombarded with notifications. If you go into the Notifications tab in your account's settings, you can set rules for when you want to get notifications and when you don't.

You can remove individual notifications that you don't want to see. You can do it on your desktop or mobile device.

How to delete notifications on Facebook on desktop

Most notifications can be deleted. Here's how to do it for all of the others.

How to delete notifications on Facebook on mobile

The process is the same on the desktop as it is on the laptop.
