Microsoft is making it easier to use excel in teams meetings. A new way for teams to meet is to use excel live. It is part of a trio of new features coming to Teams. Teams is getting video clips that can be shared in chats and collaborative annotations that allow colleagues to draw on top of content during meetings.
Microsoft detailed Live Share in Microsoft Teams earlier this year, and it includes a feature called excel live. In an interview with The Verge, Nicole Herskowitz, vice president of Microsoft Teams, said that it allows you in a Teams meeting to edit a workbooks live in real time. People don't need to leave the meeting screen to start editing an excel spreadsheet.
You don't have to install or run on a device to use the features in a regular version of excel. She says it's using full excel. The fluid framework allows for this kind of experience.
A new collaborative annotations feature in Teams will be complemented by a neat integration of excel. Meeting participants are able to draw, type, or react on top of any content that is shared in a meeting. It is similar to Microsoft's Whiteboard app, but you don't have to launch a separate experience or import content to begin annotating.
You can place Post-it notes on the screen or highlight something. Those whiteboard rich experiences can be seen on any screen. Any space becomes more collaborative. The collaborative annotations are only allowed inside a Teams meeting. There is no exporting capabilities right now, so you would probably take a picture or a screen shot to save that for later.
Video clip is the last big addition to microsoft teams Anyone can record and send short video clips in a teams chat. The video voicemail is very similar to the video clips that were launched last year. Video clips can be up to a minute long and are ideal for asynchronous communication where you might have a colleague in a different time zone.
