A group of 60 collectors has come together to celebrate the 70th birthday of adidas by contributing to a new book detailing the history of the brand. Titled From Past to Present: A Timeline of the 3 Stripes, the work is part history book, part photo book, and part collector's manual.

From Past to Present: A Timeline of the 3 Stripes comes from Neil Selvey (Author and Researcher), Dean Jacobs (Art Director), and Eddie Chang (Project Manager), as the book includes more than 1,200 shoes from 10 years of research. Laid out in chronological order, the publication begins with some of adidas' earliest designs before filtering through the decades to more recent releases and SpeedFactory designs.

"We think it is a unique product, in that no-one has ever attempted to recount the history of adidas using the shoes to tell the story. Whether you want to sit back and just enjoy the shoes or read about the designs, decisions and innovations, it's all here," says Selvey.

From Past to Present highlights classic adidas silhouettes such as the Rom, Samba, Stan Smith, Gazelle, Jeans, LA Trainer, and Superstar, in addition to rare and less familiar models.

"We found that an obscure regional release or a Special Make Up (SMU) told as much about the company as a multi-million selling pair," the team added. "We tried to get a broad mix of shoes and styles to chart the progression of adidas from a medium sized family run business into the giant global corporation it is today."

In addition to celebrating 70 years of adidas, the book pays homage to fans of the brand and collectors. From Past to Present: A Timeline of the 3 Stripes features over 350 pages and comes with a soft touch laminated cover. For more on the book, as well as to pre-order a copy, follow here.
