The US is no longer allowed to visit the UNESCO World Heritage site.

The American tourist caused 25,000 worth of damage when she threw her scooter down the Spanish Steps.

A man and a woman are also American tourists.

After being published by several Italian news sites, Friday's incident was filmed by a passer-by and uploaded to the internet.

The woman threw the scooter the rest of the way because she was tired of pushing it.

The marble that was damaged by the scooter would cost 25,000 to fix. Italian authorities said the stone at the stairs had been refurbished.

The pair were fined 400 each by the police.

The two are no longer allowed to return to the World Heritage site.

The Spanish Steps are one of the most guarded tourist sites in the Italian capital and people are not allowed to sit on them.
