The Flames planned to give fans the ultimate outdoor viewing-party experience during the Battle of Alberta.

Mother Nature had other ideas.

The Flames were able to host a lot of fans outside of the Saddledome. Due to bad weather on Thursday and bad weather on Friday, the festivities for the second-round game between the Flames and the Bruins were canceled.

The organization will open the Saddledome and show the game on a big screen for free, instead of having an outdoor event.

For some fans, that may be their only chance to get inside the building. The long-awaited series between the Flames and the Oilers had pushed the price of resale tickets to more than eight times their face value by early Friday morning. For an upper-level seat, the cheapest tickets cost more than $350.

If the mid-May snow squalls and overpriced assets were not enough drama, then what has happened so far on the ice?

In the first game of the series, the Flames opened with two goals in 51 seconds and chased Smith after he allowed a third goal. The Flames led 6-1 at one point, but the Eskimos came back and tied the game. The game between these teams was the highest- scoring in the history of the playoffs.

Matthew Tkachuk had a hat trick. McDavid added a goal and three assists, dragging the Eskimos back into the fight. Smith will be back for the second game.
