Windows has a feature called Sticky Keys that allows the keys to remain active even if you don't press them. It can help users with physical impairments who have trouble pressing two keys at a time.

You can turn it on by pressing Shift five times in a row. The feature can be turned on by mistake.

How to turn off Sticky Keys with a keyboard shortcut

The easiest way to turn off Sticky Keys is to use the keyboard shortcut Shift key five times. You can press two function keys at the same time.

The problem will not be prevented from happening again, but it will be solved immediately.

How to turn off Sticky Keys from the Settings menu

If you are using Windows 10 or 11, you can enable or disabled Sticky Keys by going into the settings.

1. Click the Windows icon in the Taskbar if you want to press the Windows logo on your keyboard.

2. Search for accessibility.

3. Click on the keyboard settings to see them.

In Windows 10.

3. You can find the Ease of Access keyboard settings in the search results.

4. Under Use Sticky Keys to Off, switch the switch. The shortcut can be turned off if you allow it to start Sticky Keys.

How to turn off Sticky Keys from the Control Panel

If you are using Windows 7, follow the below steps.

1. Click the Windows icon on the Taskbar if you want to press the Windows logo on your keyboard.

2. To open it, select Control Panel.

3. Click on the option that says ease of access.

4. Click Change how your keyboard works to do it.

5. Untick the box next to Turn on Sticky Keys in the Make it easier to type section.

6. If you want to turn on the Sticky Keys when SHIFT is pressed five times, you have to click on Set up Sticky Keys.

Double-clicking the Sticky Keys icon on the Taskbar will open the Set up Sticky Keys windows.
