The first European customer for the 777-8 Freighter is the Lufthansa Group.

The Group has placed a new order for two more 777 Freighters to add to its cargo fleet, which will give it more cargo capacity in the near-term.

Additional B787 Orders

A new purchase of seven 787-9s is one of the reasons why the Lufthansa Group continues to accelerate the modernization of its long-haul passenger fleet. The total order book for the 787-9 is now 32 firm orders. The Group is a launch customer for the airplane.

B777-8 Freighter

Boeing has booked 34 firm orders for the new model of the freighter. The lowest fuel use, emissions and operating cost of any large freighter can be found in the 777-8 Freighter.

With the selection of our newest freighter, Lufthansa continues its long history of firsts with Boeing airplane programs, becoming the first European customer for the 777-8 Freighter.

The most advanced, fuel-efficient twin-engine airplanes in the industry will be operated by the Lufthansa Group. Each of these airplanes reduces emissions by 15 to 25% compared to previous models with a noise footprint up to 50% smaller than their predecessors, helping to advance the Lufthansa Group's sustainable objectives.

A 70% increase in the global freighter fleet is projected by the 2021 Boeing Commercial Market Outlook. The first delivery of the freighter is in the year 2027.
