Everyone involved with the Kentucky Derby winner was struck by Rich Strike.
The horse that entered into the Derby field on Friday after Ethereal Road scratched surged down the inside of the track to become one of the most unlikely winners in the event's history.
The Derby lines had Rich Strike closing at 80-1. He was as high as 99-1 when he entered the field.

Eric Reed and Sonny Leon were the first owners of the Derby winner.
Rich Strike beat two of the favored horses down the last few lengths. Epicenter and Zandon were passed by the long-shot winner.

Epicenter and Zandon appeared to be in a two horse race to cross the finish line first.
The two horses were the favorites to win the race. Rich Strike surged down the inside lane out of nowhere to get past the two strong three-year-old horses.

Sonny Leon rode Rich Strike from the outside starting post to the inside lane in order to make the final push.
Rich Strike wasn't expected to be in the Kentucky Derby before Friday. He entered the field after Ethereal Road was scratched.
Rich Strike didn't have a great build-up to the first leg of the Triple Crown. He took third and fourth in synthetic turf races in March and April.
Summer of Tomorrow led the field at a fast pace around the Louisville track.
The favored horses were leading the pack. There was an apparent battle between Epicenter and Zandon.
Rich Strike made anyone who bet on him rich in two minutes.
A $2 bet on Rich Strike would have paid out $163.60. The payouts for exacta, trifecta and superfecta bets were high because of Rich Strike's 80-1 odds.
If you placed $2 on the slip, an exacta bet with Rich Strike and Epicenter would have paid you $4,101.20.
A superfecta with Rich Strike, Epicenter and Simplification would have paid $321,500.10 and a trifecta with them would have paid out more than $140,000.
The next leg of the Triple Crown will be held at the Preakness Stakes two weeks from now.
