The UFC heads to Singapore on Saturday for UFC Fight Night 162. The event marks the first time the promotion has visited Singapore in more than a year. The main event of Saturday's fight card is a welterweight matchup between two of the best grapplers in the UFC. In that contest former two-division UFC title challenger Demian Maia faces Ben Askren, who held welterweight titles with Bellator and One Championship.

Despite a 2-3 run in his past five fights, Maia is the No. 10 ranked fighter in the 170-pound division. His wins have come against unranked competitors Lyman Good and Anthony Rocco Martin. While his losses were to Tyron Woodley in a title fight, Colby Covington in a three-round bout and Kamaru Usman in a five-round main event. Covington would go on to win the interim welterweight title, while Usman is the current 170-pound champion. Before losing those three bouts, Maia was on a seven-fight winning streak.

Askren, who is the No. 11 ranked fighter in the official welterweight rankings, came to the UFC with an unbeaten record of 18-0-1. He made it to 19-0-1 with a controversial submission win over former welterweight champion Robbie Lawler in March. Askren's unbeaten run came to an abrupt end in July when he was knocked out in a UFC record five seconds by Jorge Masvidal. Askren was ranked No. 5 in the division heading into that bout.

This is a high-stakes matchup for both of these fighters. If Maia wins, he will most likely get matched up against a top-10 opponent in his next outing. If Askren is victorious, he can start to rebuild the momentum he lost after Masvidal stopped him.

The main card features a lightweight co-headlining bout between Michael Johnson and Stevie Ray.
