As reported, The Infamous Stringdusters will issue a new EP of covers later this month. features five covers recorded by The ‘Dusters and will be released by Lumenhouse Recordings on October 27. Today, Rolling Stone premiered audio of a track from Undercover Vol. 2.
The latest installment of Undercover includes the jamgrass act’s takes on songs originally performed by The Allman Brothers Band, My Morning Jacket, Marvin Gaye, The Cure and Daft Punk. “Sometimes you hear a cover that comes from a completely different genre and it works, sometimes it doesn’t, sometimes you just have to try,” said fiddler Jeremy Garrett in a statement announcing the EP.
One of the tunes The Infamous Stringdusters recorded for Undercover Vol. 2 is The Cure’s “Just Like Heaven.” Guitarist Andy Falco told RS about his experience with the music of the alt-rock legends, “This girl got me tickets to see the Cure, and brought me to the show kicking and screaming. Well, I watched this amazing live band play these killer songs, and dug it so much I bought tickets for the next night and went again.” Falco went on to explain, “‘Just Like Heaven’ is probably one of their biggest hits, and I always felt like it would make a fun bluegrass song.”
