BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Holy. Moly.
After our weekend blizzard, 12.9″ so far at MSP puts us as the snowiest April on record with 23.2″ total.
Some snow totals so far from @NWSTwinCities:
MSP Airport: 12.9″
NE Minneapolis: 15.5″
St. Paul: 13.2″
St. Cloud: 4.4″
– KARE 11 (@kare11) April 15, 2018
We’ve finally passed up April 1983, which had 21.8″ when all was said and done. The snowiest April day on record is still April 14, 1983, though ( remember that blizzard?)
KARE 11 Classic: Minnesota snowstorm from April 14, 1983
This may surprise some people, but this weekend’s doozy was not one of the top five snowstorms in MSP history – even though it did ground all flights Saturday evening. We would need another 4.2″ to tie the number five spot.
You can find your area’s snow total here on the NWS website.

Of course, April isn’t over yet. With more possibilities for snow in the forecast, we will likely see our monthly total grow.
