( UPDATE: Williams’ publicist, Kelly Bush Novak, announced later Wednesday that Williams is due in the fall).
Williams got engaged to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian in late December, using her personal Reddit account to share the news.
According to her post, Williams is 20 weeks along, putting her due date around the end of August or the beginning of September. That means she was most likely pregnant when she won the Australian Open women’s singles championship in January. Serena defeated sister and future aunt Venus Williams in straight sets.
A few weeks ago, it was reported Williams would return to competition at the Madrid Open in May, though a pregnancy will put her return on hold. This will take her out of the French Open (May 28-June 11), Wimbledon (July 3-16) and the U.S. Open (Aug. 28-Sept. 10).
