NBC Nightly News Report Examines ‘Questions About Trump’s Credibility’ After Comey Hearing

57

A report filed by correspondent Peter Alexander on NBC Nightly News tonight starts out with “Tonight, for a president who’s often loose with facts, a moment of truth.”

The report comes after FBI Director James Comey said today he knows of no basis for the president’s tweets about wiretapping.

Alexander looks at how Trump’s beliefs “threaten to undermine his credibility on issues big and small,” citing not just the wiretapping claim, but his inauguration crowd size and the size of his electoral college win. And then, of course, there’s birtherism.

Trump’s claim about his electoral college win led to Alexander challenging him at his big presser a few weeks ago about issues this raises about his trustworthiness. (NBC featured a clip from that exchange in the report.)
