Police in Montreal are asking for the public’s help in locating a 10-year-old boy who’s been missing since Monday.

Ariel Jeffrey Kouakou was last seen around lunchtime on Monday when he left home to visit a friend’s house, but never arrived.

Kouakou had the day off from his school, Ecole François-de-Laval, due to ongoing renovations at the facility.

Police say Kouakou has not had issues with running away from home before, but recently got into an argument with his parents over his report card.

“The only reason that I can see is that he had a little conflict regarding the video games,” Montreal police spokesperson Caroline Chevrefils told CTV Montreal. “His dad told him that he was not allowed to play any video games so maybe that’s why Ariel decided to leave home.”

Police describe Kouakou as 140 centimetres tall, weighing about 40 kilograms. He was last seen wearing a black jacket and yellow shoes.

Anyone with information on the boy’s whereabouts is asked to call the Montreal police.
