In hour two of Morning Joe, viewers were treated to a bit of well earned mockery for Trump lawyer-flack Jay Sekulow. After a brutal interview with Fox News’ Chris Wallace, Scarborough mocked the conservative lawyer’s attempt to undergird his argument by brandishing unrelated official looking documents.
“I have all of this evidence right here. I have all of this evidence right here, and it is right here. I’ve got all this evidence. I’m holding this paper. That means what I am saying is official,” he joked.
It was a fun, flamboyant display in it’s own right, with Scarborough thrashing about news articles and whatever other mysterious notes are on that table.
Then, however, quite out of nowhere, co-host Mika Brzezinski decided to make some very pointed comments about gender.
“There are no men in the White House, literally no real men. Nobody can get him to stop tweeting,” she said. “Maybe bring in a woman.”
Joe – perhaps in anticipation of this very article – immediately tried to quarantine the idea from spreading to the rest of the panel.
“Oh come on. Stop that. Stop that. Stop that,” he said. The last “stop that” was almost whispered into Mika’s ear. “I don’t even know where to go from here,” he added.
Joe threw it over to John Heilemann to change the subject.
“Where do you want me to go here?” Heilemann asked nervously.
“I’m just trying to change the subject from what Mika just said.”
It’s not the first time Brzezinski has waded into the debate about the “realness” of the men currently occupying the West Wing. On Wednesday, just before news broke of the shooting of Rep. Steve Scalise, she made a similar claim, incredibly only moments after teasing an interview she was planning to have with Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) about sexism.
