Calif. AG to Trump: Watch Your Back in CA, Don’t Get Stuck in a Dark Alley With Elected Official

3

If the state of California was a failed actor – and, let’s face it, it houses a lot of them – it would be Johnny Depp.

Its time is up, it’s broke, its relevance is over, it’s out of touch with America, it still thinks the ethos of Hunter S. Thompson is relevant, and if you disagree with that last part it thinks it can take you out behind the bar and tell you what for with ol’ Mr. Smashy.

In an interview on MSNBC, the state’s attorney general, Xavier Becerra, told Andrea Mitchell that President Trump wouldn’t repeat his claim that Democrat Rep. Maxine Waters was a “low IQ” person if he were in a “dark alley” with her, which is clearly a very good barometer of whether someone should make such a remark.

On Saturday, Trump went after Waters – who has suggested that Trump can and should be impeached without actual evidence that he committed a crime – by suggesting she was ” low IQ.”

“She’s a low IQ individual,” Trump told an audience during a rally in Pennsylvania Saturday. “You can’t help it. She really is.”

Given that Waters had suggested that the very definition of “high crimes and misdemeanors” was up to the folks in Congress, yes, that would likely indicate she wasn’t entirely in compos mentis. A further review of her legislative career would actually reveal Waters’ remarks on Trump to be among her saner statements in that department,

However, California politicians being what they are, Attorney General Becerra felt compelled to stand up for Waters during an appearance on MSNBC.

“I think Donald Trump probably said that from 2,000 miles away from Maxine Waters because he’s probably too afraid to say it to her face,” Becerra told Mitchell on Monday.

“I suspect that Donald Trump would be afraid to come up to her and actually say something like that to her because Maxine Waters won’t stand for that. It’s unfortunate he used that kind of language about someone who’s been a public servant for so many years,” he added.

“Maxine can take care of herself, and I would urge Donald Trump to be careful if he ever finds himself in a dark alley with Maxine Waters,” Becerra concluded.

It’s on. You better show up at the basketball court behind the admin building after class Tuesday or else you’re nothing. (Do the kids still use “nothing?” Probably not.)

Do you think Maxine Waters is “low IQ?”

First, let’s start with the unfortunate facts here: There is nothing mongoose-like about Maxine Waters’ reactions, physically or (especially) intellectually.

This is not an intelligent (or sane) woman. If there were any kind of dark-alley confrontation, Waters wouldn’t just lose to President Trump, she might just lose to Harold Stassen. Mr. Becerra isn’t just setting up a Mayweather vs. McGregor face-off, he’s arranging one of those early-card pro wrestling fights where Hulk Hogan battled an unknown “journeyman” who was really the proprietor of the all-night liquor store across the street from the auditorium. Oh, and he’s also the state’s chief law enforcement officer, yet apparently he’s setting up fights between the president and an aged, senescent congresswoman.

However, the very fact that Becerra and the Democrats feel the need to resort to physical threats shows exactly where they are in the electoral process. Can’t beat Trump with words? Vague threats of fisticuffs should do the trick, right?

Physical threats in earnest are the last refuge of the desperate – and make no mistake, this physical threat was made in earnest. It wasn’t a joke or an offhand remark.

However, there were two telling things about the threat. Firstly, it wasn’t made by Waters herself, but by someone on her behalf. Secondly, it was made by a 60-year-old man on the behalf of a 79-year-old woman. That’s the Democratic Party, folks. Bravery in action.
